Traze Feature Highlight: Recursive QR code

February 17, 2021

User data safety is one of the top priorities of the Traze team. That is why they have included a unique feature, patented to Traze, which is the "Recursive QR code". This feature means that the user's personal QR code will keep changing every few minutes, to avoid others from taking a screenshot and misusing the QR code. This will help protect the data of the users and their Traze history.

As an additional layer of protection, the QR codes are also encrypted, therefore it cannot be read by any other QR code reader.

According to the Traze Privacy Policy, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is the data controller while Cosmotech Philippines Inc. (CPI) is the data processor. All user data are encrypted in the database and are deleted every 30 days. Only when the user is tagged positive, will the data be decrypted, and the contact tracing history can be viewed by the concerned parties like LGUs or the Department of Health (DOH).
